Ludwig Thumm (judge)

Ludwig Thumm (born April 13, 1920 in Frankenthal ; † April 11, 2011 in Bruchsal ) was a German lawyer, judge and Vice President of the Federal Court of Justice .

Life

Thumm studied law . In 1952 he joined the justice service of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . There he worked as a regional judge at the Frankenthal regional court (Pfalz) , then as a higher regional judge at the Neustadt an der Weinstrasse regional court . In 1959 he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. In 1968 he was appointed President of the Zweibrücken Regional Court .

In 1970 Ludwig Thumm was elected judge at the Federal Court of Justice and initially worked in the IX. Civil Senate with. This Senate was responsible for legal disputes about the compensation of victims of National Socialist injustice. In 1981 Thumm was given the chairmanship of the 5th Civil Senate , responsible for property law. At the same time he took over the chairmanship of the Senate for Agricultural Matters . In 1985 Thumm was appointed Vice President of the Federal Court of Justice. He retired in 1988.

Ludwig Thumm died in 2011 shortly before the age of 91.
