Ludwig Georgii was the son of Urach's mayor Heinrich August Georgii (1770–1850). He studied Protestant theology in Tübingen in 1827 . In 1832 he was vicar in Dettingen unter Teck and Pliezhausen, in 1833 in Esslingen. In the same year he went to Dörrenzimmern in the Oberamt Künzelsau as parish administrator , in 1834 he took over the pastor's position there. In 1840 he became a helper in Calw and in 1846 city ​​pastor and dean in Brackenheim . In 1848 he was appointed to the Church Constitutional Commission. In 1853 Ludwig Georgii went to Tübingen as dean, and in 1869 he finally became prelate and general superintendent there . At the age of 80, he retired in 1890. In 1869 and 1879 Ludwig von Georgii was a member of the Protestant regional synod.

The general superintendents of the Protestant regional church were, by virtue of their office, privileged members of the second chamber of the Württemberg state parliament . After his appointment in Tübingen, Ludwig von Georgii entered the state parliament in 1870. He held the mandate until he retired in 1890.
