Ludwig Rau

Ludwig Rau (also Ludwig von Rau; * July 8, 1821 in Erlangen , † June 15, 1892 in Zurich ) was a German physician, academy teacher for agriculture and director of the Agricultural Academy Hohenheim .

Live and act

Rau received his doctorate in 1842. med. at the University of Heidelberg and opened a medical practice in Pforzheim . In 1845 he moved his practice to Heidelberg and became a private lecturer in medicine at the university.

From 1849 to 1851 Rau studied agriculture at the University of Bonn and the University of Jena . With his doctorate as Dr. phil. he was appointed private lecturer for agriculture at the University of Heidelberg. In 1854 he accepted the position as professor of agriculture at the Agricultural Academy Hohenheim .

In 1863 he entered the service of Baden and was Ministerialrat. In 1872 he accepted Hohenheim's renewed appointment as director of the academy and held this position until his retirement in 1882.
