Ludwig von Siegen
Ludwig von Siegen (* 1609 in Cologne ; † 1680 in Wolfenbüttel ) developed the scraping technique (also mezzotint ), which is one of the graphic gravure printing processes .
Ludwig von Siegen worked at the court of Landgrave Amelie Elisabeth von Hessen . Her portrait, which he created in 1642, is considered to be the earliest work of mezzotint.
