The aircraft electronics operation Regulation (LuftEBV) shall, depending on the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt , on the basis of the Aviation Act, the operation of mobile phones and other non-approved as aviation equipment electronic equipment in an aircraft .
The rules laid down there are intended to avoid hazards caused by radiation from electronic devices to the on- board electronics of aircraft. During take-off and landing, only medically necessary devices, devices operated exclusively with button cells and portable satellite-based navigation and recording devices may be used.
Since 2008, the aircraft operator has been able to permit the use of devices with a transmission function, for example cell phones, under certain circumstances, provided that electromagnetic compatibility with the on-board electronics has been proven.
