Aircraft register

The aircraft register is an official register of all civil aircraft in a country. When an aircraft is entered in the national aircraft register, it is kept under the nationality of the country of registration and must bear the nationality and aircraft identification .

Regulatory

The 190 member states of the ICAO have undertaken in Part 1 / Chapter III of the Agreement on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Agreement, ICAO Agreement) to keep records of their civil aircraft.

Aircraft fall under the administrative sovereignty of the state in which they are registered (Art. 17); the respective national and registration marks must be affixed to them (Art. 20). (Double) entries in several states at the same time are not permitted, but the entry can be transferred from one state to another (Art. 18). The detailed regulations are free for each member state within the framework of its sovereign legislation (Art. 19), but the aircraft register usually contains at least information on the nationality mark , registration mark, aircraft manufacturer , aircraft type , serial number , maximum take-off weight and aircraft owner . Each contracting state undertakes to provide information from the aircraft register of the ICAO and every other contracting state (Art. 21).

Germany

In Germany, the registry is based on the Aviation Licensing Regulations (LuftVZO); it is administered by the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA). Here it is referred to as an aircraft role.

Austria

The legal basis of the aircraft register in Austria can be found in § 16 LFG ( Aviation Act ). This also includes authorization to issue ordinances from the Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology ( BMVIT ) to regulate the more detailed provisions. These are therefore implemented in Part II of the ZLLV-2005 ( Civil Aircraft and Aviation Equipment Ordinance 2005 ). The management of the aircraft register was transferred to Austro Control as an entrusted company. The inspection is free according to the aviation law.
