Aircraft role
The aircraft register is the German aircraft register , i.e. the official register of all aircraft permitted to operate in the Federal Republic of Germany. The aviation law forms the legal basis for this . The aircraft role has been kept at the Federal Aviation Office in Braunschweig since August 1, 1959 , and all aircraft , rotary wing aircraft , motor gliders , gliders , airships and balloons are registered there when they are licensed to operate in Germany.
The air traffic register contains (as of August 19, 2014) 40,000 registered aircraft. With the entry in the aircraft register, an aircraft is registered for traffic in Germany and the aircraft receives a unique official aircraft registration number .
After registration, the owner or an authorized representative will receive a registration slip on which this symbol is entered; The license plate must be attached to the aircraft on both sides and on the underside of the left wing (Appendix 1 Air Traffic Licensing Regulations). In addition, the German federal flag must be affixed on both sides of the vertical stabilizer (does not apply to ultralight aircraft). In the case of balloons, the federal flag can either be attached to the balloon envelope or as a real flag at a suitable point, such as the top rope.
Changes to the air traffic role used to be posted in the Aviation News , but this has not happened for some time due to privacy concerns. Due to data protection regulations, the LBA may only publish information from the aircraft role with the consent of the owner. The information, e.g. B. a holder query is chargeable. Everyone is entitled to look into the role of the aircraft.
An entry in the German aircraft register can only be made if the aircraft is owned by German citizens, or owned by citizens of member states of the European Union (exceptions are now also possible).
