Air loadability describes the property of a load (vehicle, pallet, container) as an internal load that it can be transported by an aircraft .

Rotary wing aircraft (helicopters) such as fixed- wing aircraft can be used as aircraft . The term “air loadability” always only refers to a specific type of aircraft, without which the term “air loadability” is incomplete. For example, a load may be air transportable in the Transall C-160 but not in the C130 Hercules , although both types of aircraft are similar.

The designation air loadability indicates compliance with all limit values during transport as well as loading and unloading (e.g. compliance with the safety distances and the permissible floor loads), as well as sufficient load securing (lashing) in accordance with national regulations.

The term is to be distinguished from air transportability or aviation compatibility .
