Lugal-gusisu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lugal-gusisu (also Lugal-gusisa, Gusisu ; Sumerian d Lugal -gu 4 -si-su / sa ) is documented as a Sumerian god in the lists of gods from Nippur dating from early dynastic times as the lord who leads the bulls . It remains unclear what mythological function Lugal-gusisu played. In the following period his name was reduced to the short form Gusisu , which in turn served as a synonym for the cult festivals "Ezen-maḫ Ninurta " in Ur and " Ezen-maḫ Gusisu " in Nippur in the Ur III period . In the Nippur calendar , the second month ( May ) was named after Lugal-gusisu.
