The Lugenda is a river in Mozambique . It is the largest right tributary of the Rovuma .

It rises in Lake Chiutasee on the border with Malawi , meanders through the Niassa province and Lake Amaramba in a northeast direction and flows into the Rovuma at the village of Negomano on the Tanzanian border. 360 km of this it flows through the Niassa Game Reserve . In addition to tourism, the Lugenda is of great regional importance, especially for fishing. It is bordered by wooded grassland and has many rapids and branches. The water level is usually very low in the dry season.
