Lui ( French for 'he') is a French men's magazine .

history

Lui was founded by the photographer Daniel Filipacchi , who wanted to build on the principle of the Playboy magazine to develop a men's magazine with French charm. The subtitle of the magazine is Lui, le magazine de l'homme moderne ('Lui, the magazine for the modern man').

The magazine has appeared monthly in France since November 1963, with some success into the early 1980s. Brigitte Bardot , Mireille Darc , Jane Birkin , Marlène Jobert and Brigitta Cimarolli could be seen on the title pages .

From March 1977 a German edition appeared, which was discontinued in 1992. Heinz van Nouhuys acted as editor .
