Luigi Bisi
Luigi Bisi (born May 10, 1814 in Milan , † November 11, 1886 ibid) was an Italian painter and architect .
life and work
The son of the engraver and painter Michele Bisi first learned from his father and his uncle Giuseppe Bisi . He then studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera with Francesco Durelli and Giovanni Migliara . In 1851 he was appointed Durelli's successor to the professorship for perspective at the Accademia di Brera. In 1879 he became president of the academy.
Luigi Bisi gained a reputation as a painter of architectural vedute and in particular church interiors, he is said to have painted 87 interior views of the Milan Cathedral . As an architect he was involved in the renovation of Sant'Ambrogio as well as the restoration and expansion of the Palazzo dei Giureconsulti . He was one of the members of the commission that prepared the plans for the redesign of the Piazza del Duomo and the construction of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in 1860/1861 .
