Luigi Bodio

Luigi Bodio (born October 12, 1840 in Milan , † November 2, 1920 ) was an Italian statistician .

Life

Bodio received his doctorate in Pisa in 1861 and then, with government support, traveled abroad for further training. On his return he became professor of economics at the royal technical college in Livorno in 1864 , from 1867-68 professor at the royal technical college in Milan and then for four years professor of statistics and commercial geography at the royal higher commercial school in Venice . When Pietro Maestri , the creator of the Royal Italian Statistical Bureau, died in 1872, Bodio was appointed director of this bureau in Rome in his place .

From 1886 he was a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences .

Works

Of the great international statistics, Bodio published the Statistique internationale des caisses d'épargne in 1876 . He also wrote: Saggio sul commercio esterno terrestre e marittimo del regno d'Italia (Flor. 1865); The documenti statistici del regno d'Italia (that. 1867); Dei rapporti della statistica coll 'economia politica e colle altre scienze affini (that. 1869); in addition, from 1876 he edited the Archivio di statistica with Cesare Correnti , Paolo Boselli and others .
