Luigi Cascioli

Luigi Cascioli (born February 16, 1934 in Bagnoregio , † March 15, 2010 in Roccalvecce di Viterbo ) was a former Catholic who worked as an atheist civil rights activist and writer in Italy .

theses

Cascioli assumes in his book La favola di Cristo ("The Fable of Christ") that Jesus never existed but was a fictional version of the anti-Roman Jewish rebel John of Gamala . A review of Cascioli was published in 2002 by a priest named Enrico Righi, to which Cascioli responded with a lawsuit for defamation and fraud based on the allegation of a historical Jesus Christ. The case gained widespread public interest, as it was essentially about clarifying the question of whether Jesus was a fictional (only claimed by the Catholic Church) or a historical figure. The trial was dropped without a decision.
