Luigi D'Amore

Luigi D'Amore is an Italian classical archaeologist .

Luigi D'Amore received his PhD in Classical Archeology and was temporarily assistant to Amedeo Maiuri . He is best known for his research on Stabiae , where he was director of the excavations. From the beginning of 1976 to April 1977 he was Soprintendente aggiunto nella Soprintendenza archeologica di Napoli e Caserta and thus responsible for archaeological research not only in Stabiae, but also in Pompeii , Herculaneum , Oplontis and Boscoreale . Unlike in Stabiae, he couldn't leave a lasting impression here. He succeeded Alfonso De Franciscis in this office and was replaced by Fausto Zevi after 100 days . In Stabiae, Carlo Giordano followed him as head of the excavations.
