Luka Rocco Magnotta

Luka Magnotta (* 24. July 1982 in Scarborough , Ontario as Eric Clinton Kirk Newman ), also known under the pseudonym Vladimir Romanov and Mattia Del Santo , is a convicted Canadian killer, animal abusers and former porn actor . He is currently serving a life sentence.

Life

Magnotta began his career as a performer in porn films in 2003. He also worked occasionally as a stripper and professional companion . A year later, he was given a suspended sentence in Toronto for fraud . He had spent $ 16,500 on a woman's credit card, among other things . In 2005 he was featured as a model under the pseudonym “Jimmy” in an issue of Toronto's gay men’s fab magazine . In 2007 he applied for the TV series COVERguy . Magnotta posted several videos on YouTube in which he killed cats. For this reason, several internet users and animal rights activists tried to track him down and hand him over to the police. The search went on for 2 years. Again and again, clues were given to the police. The animal rights activists were able to locate his residence in Toronto, but it turned out that he no longer lived there. Further traces led to Montreal. There he lured Jun Lin into the apartment alone and killed him and a dog. He filmed this act and posted the video on the Internet. He then fled to Paris and from there to Berlin. The owner recognized him in an internet cafe and called the police. This arrested him and he was extradited to Canada.

Magnotta is accused of murdering and dismembering the 32-year-old Chinese student Jun Lin in Montreal . He is also accused of having filmed the crime, posted it on the Internet and sent body parts to political parties and schools in Canada. On June 4, 2012, on the basis of a Canadian arrest warrant , he was arrested in an internet café in Berlin-Neukölln and extradited to Canada on June 18, 2012.

In December 2014 he was found guilty. Under Canadian law, a guilty verdict in a murder case entails a prison sentence of at least 25 years. The judge sentenced him to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 25 years in prison.
