Lukas Mrzyglod
Vincent Lucas Mrzyglód , also Mrziglod or Wincenty Łukasz Mrzyglód (born July 17, 1884 in Groß-Patschin , † April 11, 1952 in Neisse ), was a painter , conservator and restorer of monuments .
In 1907 he entered the Franciscan novitiate in Breslau - Carlowitz and took the religious name Lucas . He graduated from the Royal Art and Trade School in Wroclaw, where Julian Waldowski was his teacher. After the First World War he received a special permit from the Pope, left the order and started a family.
He initially worked as a freelance artist and created religious paintings, landscapes and portraits. He also qualified as a restorer for the preservation of historical cultural property and was appointed head of the provincial restoration workshop in Neisse in 1932, where he worked until 1945 and took his son Arnold Mrziglod (1921–1984) as an apprentice. After the war he was able to avoid being expelled . Until his death in 1952, he restored numerous church works of art and interiors in Upper Silesia or designed them artistically. In the seminary of the Steyler missionaries he also gave drawing and art lessons.
1997/98 was held under the auspices of the Cologne Cardinal Joachim Meisner and Bishop of Opole , Alfons Nossol a traveling exhibition in various places of Poland and Germany held that in a bilingual catalog of the Upper Silesian Museum under the title Lucas Mrzyglod, an Upper Silesian painter and restorer was documented .
