Paczyna ( German Groß Patschin ) is a village in Upper Silesia in the municipality Toszek (Tost) in the powiat Gliwicki of the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

Geographical location

Paczyna is located seven kilometers south-east of Toszek , 16 kilometers northwest of the district town of Gliwice (Gleiwitz) and 37 kilometers northwest of the voivodeship capital Katowice .

history

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 233 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 319 for Poland. Groß Patschin remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 1433 inhabitants. On August 8, 1936, the place was renamed Hartlingen . In 1939 the place had 1,463 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Tost-Gleiwitz .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Paczyna and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Gliwicki and the new Silesian Voivodeship .

traffic

The Bytom – Wrocław and Pyskowice – Lubliniec lines meet at the Paczyna station , with only one pair of long-distance trains running on the latter, which does not stop in Paczyna.
