Lukaskirche (Düsseldorf-Derendorf)
The Roman Catholic Church of St. Luke in Düsseldorf-Derendorf is a modern, cross-shaped church.
history
The planning for building a church dates back to the 1930s, but a church building association was not founded until 1952. In May 1953 St. Luke was set up as a separate parish.
The community first met in a former French barrack from the occupation after the First World War, which served as an emergency church. In 1957, construction of St. Luke's Church began according to plans by the architect Bruno Kessels .
The church was consecrated in 1963. The tower was only built between 1984 and 1985.
The plan of the church is cruciform; brick was chosen as the building material. The ceiling is made of wood and is supported by a concrete collar.
organ
The organ was built in 1972 by the organ builders Gebrüder Späth . The Kegelladen instrument has 20 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The playing and stop actions are electric.
