Lulu Island is an island in the southwest of the Lower Mainland in the Canadian province of British Columbia . It is located south of Vancouver in the Fraser River estuary . It is the largest island in the river delta. On the western part of the island is the city of Richmond , it covers most of the island. The easternmost part of the island, with the settlement of Queensborough, belongs to the city of New Westminster . In the northwest is Sea Island with Vancouver International Airport .

According to the interpretation that is most likely valid today, the island was named after a well-known revue dancer named "Lulu" who had a relationship with the mayor of Vancouver and who bought a piece of land here.
