Lumbala Nguimbo (also Lumbala N'guimbo ) is a small town in eastern Angola . Occasionally the city is also called Bundas , after the district of which it is the capital.

history

Under the Portuguese colonial administration , the place was called Vila Gago Coutinho , after the Portuguese officer, navigator and historian Gago Coutinho (1869-1959), who was known as the first high-flyer on the South Atlantic route. After Angola's independence in 1975, the Portuguese place name was replaced by the current name.

Lumbala Nguimbo is the seat of a municipality of the same name (Comuna) in the district ( Município ) of Bundas , in the province of Moxico . The community has about 4,000 inhabitants (2013 estimate). The 2014 population census should henceforth ensure reliable population figures.

Lumbala Nguimbo is also the capital of Bundas County.
