Bundas is a district in eastern Angola . Occasionally it is also named after its main town Lumbala Nguimbo or Lumbala N'guimbo.

Place name

The name Bundas is derived from the term Mbundu for two of the most important Angolan ethnic groups .

Occasionally the district is named after its capital, Lumbala Nguimbo. Increasingly, however, the name Bundas is used instead for the district and occasionally for the capital.

Bundas is a district ( Município ) in the province of Moxico . The district covers 41,992 km² and has 52,250 inhabitants (2014 estimate). The 2014 population census should henceforth ensure reliable population figures.

The district's capital is Lumbala Nguimbo, sometimes called Bundas itself.
