Luminance HDR - formerly Qtpfsgui - is graphics software for creating and editing high dynamic range images. It is published under the GPL and available for the Linux, Windows, Mac OS X (Intel only) operating systems. Luminance HDR supports multiple high-dynamic-range (HDR) - as well as low-dynamic-range (LDR) - file formats .
functionality
The basic requirement of HDR photography are digital images with different exposure. Luminance HDR superimposes them and uses them to compute an image with high contrast. Luminance HDR converts this into a displayable LDR image format with the help of various methods ( color image) that can be selected so that this can be displayed on conventional computer screens .
A general problem is that the images used as the basis must be aligned exactly on top of one another. With static subjects, this can be ensured with the help of a tripod or a stable camera shelf. If you want to work with image data that do not represent exactly the same thing, the program offers the function of aligning the images on top of each other. An automatic alignment is built in via the Hugin project. If this automatic system does not deliver the desired result, it can also be improved manually.
Supported formats
HDR images are images with a high contrast range and can be both created and edited with Luminance HDR. The following HDR graphic formats are supported:
- OpenEXR
- Radiance HDR
- Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) formats: 16 bit, 32 bit (float) and LogLuv
- Raw data format (RAW)
- PFS native
Luminance HDR can create an HDR from several LDR images and color map an HDR image into an LDR. The following LDR formats are supported:
- JPG
- PNG
- Portable Pixmap (PPM)
- Portable Bitmap (PBM)
- TIFF (8 bit)
