history
Lunar Portals of the Astral Mirror was founded in Russia. Further information about the band's line-up and history are not publicly available. The project published a 2010 EP on NitroAtmosfericum Records , in 2011 an album about Satanarsa Records and in 2012 a split EP with winter depression via Depressive Illusions Records . Meanwhile, the publications received little international attention. Frederic Cerfvol reviewed the album Под шёпот и пение природы ночной for Doom-Metal.com and rated it as "an interesting album and a promising debut".
style
The music played by Lunar Portals of the Astral Mirror is attributed to Funeral Doom . The music is considered to be an atmospheric funeral doom of the typical Russian style, carried by keyboard play, with restrained growling and heavy, but not aggressive riffing , under the noticeable influence of the Australian band Mournful Congregation .
"Funeral Doom in Russia has a tendency to add lots of keyboards and LPotAM are no exception to this rule. Still as much as they can't really escape the ever redundant comparison to Finnish bands like Colosseum or Shape Of Despair, the fact is that LPotAM add an original twist to these. Do not look for 'Russian' analogies with, let's say, Comatose Vigil or Eä, but look rather down south to Mournful Congregation. "
