history

In 1974 the four sports clubs Lugi Handboll, IK Eos Lund, Lunds IS and Lunds FF launched a sports ring ("Idrottsringen") in order to strengthen cooperation with one another and jointly increase economic opportunities. Lars-Erik Larsson pushed the idea of a tournament in August 1978 and got in touch with the local authorities. One of the goals that should be achieved with the establishment of a transnational youth tournament was to establish contacts with athletes from abroad. Between December 27 and 30, 1978, the first handball and ice hockey tournaments took place in parallel, and the basketball tournament premiered from January 3 to 6, 1979. A soccer tournament followed. The ice hockey tournament was quickly discontinued, in soccer events were held until 1982, and in 2007 the soccer tournament was relaunched. The handball and basketball tournaments, on the other hand, became fixed points.
