Lusthansa was a German Neue Deutsche Welle band.

history

Lusthansa was founded in Trier in January 1982 . The first single Nix Neues in Poona was already a hit. A short time later, the band received a recording deal from Frank Farian . Lusthansa performed about 600 times within three years. In 1985 the band broke up. At the beginning of the 2000s, the band tried a short comeback with their old hits, but broke up again after two years. On the occasion of the “Tefftival”, a memorial concert for the late local Trier music legend Helmut “Teff” Steffgen on December 23, 2012, the band finally performed for the last time. During the farewell concert, Mayor Klaus Jensen presented them with an honorary award from the City of Trier for their musical life's work.

Band name

The joke manufacturer Harlekin brought a sticker onto the market in 1980 on which two cranes copulated in flight. Inspired by this, the band name Lusthansa was chosen; the first album Nur fjutscha was released in yellow and blue. The LP was also accompanied by a folder that contained the history of the band and the career of the individual band members. Its size and color were exactly based on the Lufthansa scheduled flight plan at the time .

All recordings were produced by Frank Farian. The 2002 CD is a digital reworking of the 1982 LP that ended the comeback.
