Luther Church (Rudolstadt)
The Luther Church is an Evangelical Lutheran place of worship in Rudolstadt in Thuringia. The church was built in 1906 according to a design by the architect Theodor Quentin and is a listed building .
It was designed as a decidedly “Lutheran” place of worship. Architecturally, the elements of the preaching stand opposite each other, so church music (culture) and sermon as well as sacrament (cult) complement each other.
Donor window
The “Lutheran” concept is also expressed in the donor window pairs. In a pair of windows stand the history of theology with Luther , therefore "Luther window", Augustine , Zinzendorf as universal theological-spiritual fathers, the local defenders of the Reformation belief Heinrich XXII. and Katharina die Heldenmütige , both principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, as well as the contemporary donors, the Mohr family, Rudolstadt.
The history of church music (“poetry and music”) finds its central portrayal in the harpist David , the poet Paul Gerhardt and the composer Johann Sebastian Bach , written by two song poets from Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, e. B. Aemilie-Juliane be framed.
The donor windows are determined by the three "salvation history" windows of Christmas, Carrying of the Cross and Resurrection, as well as Pentecost in the choir room.
organ
The church houses a romantic organ from 1906, built by the renowned organ building workshop GF Steinmeyer & Co. (Oettingen).
