Lutz Becker

Lutz Becker (born September 28, 1957 in Solingen ) is a German economist. He has been Dean of Studies for Sustainable Marketing & Leadership since 2014 and has also been Head of the Business School for Business & Media at the Fresenius University in Cologne since 2016 .

Life

After graduating from Humboldtgymnasium Solingen and working in advertising, he studied design engineering , German and economics at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . After working at Wilkinson Sword and Philips , he founded TradeWheels International SA in Ohain / Brussels with partners in the early 1990s. In 1993 he did his doctorate with Hagen Backhaus and Gerold Behrens at the Bergische Universität GH Wuppertal on "Integral information management as a function of market-oriented corporate management". He founded the German subsidiary for the Norwegian Norman ASA and headed it from 1994 to 2000 as managing director. From 2000 onwards, as the founder of Inscala Consultants, it was again active as a management consultant.

Teaching and Research

Lutz Becker taught management and leadership at the Karlshochschule International University from 2006 to 2014 , where he was in charge of the master’s degree in Leadership and the Bachelor’s degree in International Marketing Management. Before that, he taught marketing in the department of economics as well as communicational and industrial design at the Bergische Universität GH Wuppertal from 1994 to 2005. In addition, he was visiting professor for general management at the University of Applied Sciences for Economics & Management in Essen and Gütersloh and was a member of the visiting faculty of the Zfu Business School in Zurich . From 2011 to 2014 he was a visiting professor at Ostvold University College in Fredrikstad, Norway, where he taught marketing and innovation management in the Innovation and Project Management course.

Since 2014 he has been the Dean of Studies for the Master’s program in Sustainable Marketing & Leadership at the Hochschule Fresenius in Cologne, where he took over the management of the Business School in 2016. From 2015 to 2017 he was also Dean of Studies for Business Administration.

In 2017, Lutz Becker and Gunnar Sohn received the teaching award from the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences.

Lutz Becker's research focuses in particular on the topics of transformation research, strategic leadership, innovation and sustainable business development. To this end, he carried out various research projects. He is currently engaged in research projects on the topics of "Sustainable Business Development Management", "Climate Adaptation Strategies and Learning Organizations" and "Next Economy".    

Act

Lutz Becker founded and headed the data and network security specialist group in the Bundesverband Informations- und Kommunikationssysteme eV (today: Bitkom ) from 1995 to 2000 .

Furthermore, he has been a member of the Rotary Club Solingen-Klingenpfad since 1999 and is particularly involved in the district working group Value, Profession and Education.

Among other things, he was an advisory board member of the Bergisches Institut für Produktentwicklung und Innovationsmanagement gGmbH ( affiliated institute of the Bergische Universität GH Wuppertal) until 2014 and a member of the scientific advisory board of the Symposion Verlag from 2006 to 2017. In addition to his numerous publications, he often acts as a speaker and moderator at conferences and meetings. In addition, he is interviewed as an expert on TV, radio and print media at home and abroad.
