The Lybid ( Ukrainian Либідь , Russian Лыбедь / Lybed ) is a 17 km long flowing water in the urban area of ​​the Ukrainian capital Kiev .

The right tributary of the Dnepr has a catchment area of ​​66.2 km², is about 0.5 meters deep and between 1.6 and 3.5 meters wide. The flow velocity reaches 0.8–1.0 m / s and the average water runoff is 1 m³ / s. The water mineralization is 583 mg / l.

Surname

It is believed that the river is named after the sister of the city founders Kyj, Shchek and Choriv , Lybiddie ( Либідь ).

The Lybid mostly runs underground in pipes or canalized above ground through the Kiev urban area. Its source is at the Kiev-Volhynia railway station in Svyatoshyn district and the mouth is in the Kortschuwate district ( Корчува́те ) in the Kiev district of Holossiyiv .
