The Lydia Lagoon is a lagoon in the north of the island of Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It is located on the western end of Hoseason Beach .
It is named after the brig Lydia from New London , Connecticut , which operated for seal hunting in the waters around Heard between 1864 and 1865.
