The Lyell Lake is a lake in Georgia . It is located on the eastern flank of the Lyell Glacier . The moraine-lined lake has a number of terraces above the current lake level , which suggest that the water levels in the lake were previously higher.
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1991 based on the naming of the neighboring glacier. Its namesake is the British geologist Charles Lyell (1797–1875).
