The Lyell Glacier is a glacier on South Georgia . It flows north to Harpon Bay at the southeast head end of Cumberland West Bay .
It was first mapped during the Swedish Antarctic Expedition under the direction of Otto Nordenskjöld . He named the glacier after the British geologist Charles Lyell (1797–1875).
