The May Point is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia . It represents the northern end of the Thatcher Peninsula and marks the east entrance to Maiviken Bay , a small side bay of Cumberland West Bay .
It was mapped during the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903) under the direction of Otto Nordenskjöld . The name is related to the bay of the same name, into which the expedition members had penetrated in May 1902.
