Lykketoppen ( Norwegian for Glücksgipfel ) is a 766 m high mountain in the southwest of Bouvet Island in the South Atlantic . It rises 1.5 km east of the Norvegiaodden headland .
It was first mapped during the Valdivia expedition (1898–1899) under the direction of the German zoologist Carl Chun . Participants in an expedition led by the Norwegian captain Harald Horntvedt (1879-1946) mapped him again in December 1927 and gave him his name.
