Norvegiaodden ( Norwegian for Norvegiaspitze , English Norvegia Point ) is a headland on the Esmarch coast in the west of Bouvetinsel . It is located a good 4 km south of Cape Circoncision , the north-western headland of the island.
The first rough mapping was carried out in 1898 by the German Valdivia expedition (1898–1899) under the direction of the zoologist and deep-sea researcher Carl Chun . A new mapping took place in December 1927 during the Norvegia research voyage under Captain Harald Horntvedt (1879-1946). It is named after Horntvedt's ship.
