Lynn Pratt
Lynn Pratt (* probably 1927 in Lexington , Tennessee ) is an American country and rockabilly singer and musician.
Life
Childhood and youth
Lynn Pratt grew up in Tennessee. Pratt's date of birth is controversial; in addition to Lexington, Tennessee, some sources also cite Sugar Tree, Tennessee. Accordingly, he should have been born in 1926. In 1939 he attended a performance at the Grand Ole Opry . After the show, he had the opportunity to speak to some of the musicians. Impressed by the country music and the singers, he formed his first band during his high school years. He continued to perform for entertainment during his time as a Navy soldier in the South Pacific .
Career
After his discharge from the Navy, he moved through Arkansas and Missouri and appeared in bars and pubs promoting a drugstore company. In 1948 he got his own radio show on the WDXI station in Jackson , Tennessee . He spent the next eight years here as a radio host and country musician. It was not until 1956, when the rockabilly wave flooded the southern states , that he, too, turned to this style with fascination. He founded his own record label, Hornet Records . Pratt made his first recordings with his band in Nashville in the studios of the radio station WSIX, which he published on his label. The most successful single of these releases was Tom Cat Boogie / At Night Time , which topped the local charts. This success enabled Pratt to appear with stars like Lefty Frizzell , Johnny Cash , Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis . However, Pratt was already too old to be a rockabilly musician, and so he gave up his musical career completely in 1965 to work as a producer for his label. In addition, the Tennessee Jamboree also produced .
It wasn't until a few years later that he released his first album, Lynn Pratt & Friends - Honky Tonk Style in Old Traditional Style .
