Mária T. Bíró

Mária Tóthné Bíró (born June 27, 1946 in Budapest , Hungary ) is a Hungarian Provincial Roman archaeologist .

Live and act

Mária T. Bíró studied library history and archeology at the Eötvös Loránd University from 1966 to 1971 and worked in the university's archaeological department from 1971 to 2000. From 1994 she also taught at the Károli Gáspár Református Egyetem (Reformed Gáspár Károlyi University). There she became head of the Department of Prehistory in 2000.

Her research areas are in particular the province of Pannonia and Aquincum . She examines art objects, especially bone carvings and bone tools . In 2000 she and Alice Mathea Choyke received a research grant from the Hungarian National Research Society (OKTA) and was able to research bone tools at the Aquincum Museum. She also deals with the history of religion .

Mária T. Bíró has been married to Endre Tóth since 1974 and has two children.
