The old girls' community school

The former girls' community school (also Haus Ueterst End ) is a listed building in Uetersen .

The building, erected in 1813 by Landdrost in Pinneberg and Uetersen monastery provost Josias von Qualen (1742–1819), is a single-storey eaves structure with a half-hipped roof and the street and garden view is designed with a gable. The current entrance doors probably date from the time it was built, the porch door was renewed around 1900. The building was initially equipped with two teacher's apartments and four classrooms. Later it served temporarily as an emergency shelter for refugees and as a local museum. Due to the different uses, the former girls' school was so badly worn that it was supposed to be demolished in the 1970s. Due to the efforts of some private individuals and the SHHB , the demolition was prevented and the building was renovated from 1983 to 1989 and renamed Haus Ueterst End . Today the former girls' community school houses a museum with an extensive amber collection and a memorial for former seminarians of the Ludwig-Meyn-Gymnasium . In addition, household items from the former German provinces of Pomerania , West and East Prussia are shown.

The building is a listed building because of its architectural, historical and urban value as a cultural monument .
