Men's work by the Evangelical Church in Germany

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The men's work group of the Evangelical Church in Germany is the umbrella organization of the institutions for men's work in the member churches of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). The men's work is based in the Evangelical Center Women and Men of the EKD, founded in 2009, on Berliner Allee in Hanover .

History and tasks

In 1946, the first concept for working with men in the church - the Echzeller guidelines - was developed in Echzell / Hesse, thus laying the foundation for the men’s work at the newly founded EKD. The guidelines were a reaction to the emotional disorientation of men after the Second World War and the pastoral care of men was brought into focus. In 1995 the guidelines were adapted to today's reality. The men's work is responsible for all questions that affect men and offers seminars in over 3000 men's circles and groups nationwide on topics such as faith and spirituality, the Bible and the male world, Christian active fatherhood, husband and family.

The association is the publisher of the magazine Männerforum and other publications. Every year the offers have a different theme. In March 2009 the Evangelical Center Women and Men of the EKD was founded in Hanover. The center is the joint office and administrative office of the men's work and the Evangelical Women in Germany e. V. (EFiD) in the EKD.
