Märchen der Völker was a German children's series that was shown from 1978 to 1984 under the direction of Curt Linda on ZDF and most recently on PKS, today's Sat.1 . The 39-part series was first broadcast every week from March 7 to December 12, 1978, on Tuesdays at 6:20 p.m. to 6:40 p.m.

Curt Linda († 2007) was one of the founders and board member of the German group of the Association internationale du film d'animation , or ASIFA for short. Linda took part in a project of this organization in the mid-1970s. 37 cartoons from 19 European countries produced a total of 39 contributions for the series "Märchen der Völker", which was broadcast in 1978 in the Federal Republic of Germany by the television station ZDF.

After 1984, Fairy Tales of the Peoples was still shown irregularly in various children's series (e.g. Rick's Trick-Tier Show ).

The opening credits were introduced by the sentence "Once upon a time ..." and were a quick succession of many well-known fairy tales, such as that of the frog prince , or another sequence in which a ball of fire continuously bounces through the picture.
