Erich Ferstl

Erich Rudolf Ferstl (born May 4, 1934 in Munich ) is a German film music composer who was initially active as a jazz musician .

Life

Erich Ferstl grew up in a family of musicians, studied piano, violin, guitar and composition. As an interpreter and film composer, he was involved in numerous productions. He became known to a larger audience in 1966 with the music for the 13-part television series Ub 'Always Faithful if Possible .

In addition to compositions for film and television productions, he published several records with a wide variety of music and appeared on numerous occasions. He played jazz in a duo with Joe Viera and performed at the German Jazz Festival in Frankfurt in 1962 and 1964 . In 1965 he made a tour through the Middle East together with the singer Elena Cardas.

In the 1970s he wrote the score for four Simmel films and for several television series, including the theme song for Der Bastian .

Erich Ferstl's son Henrik Ferstl is also a musician.
