The Mærsk Giant is a 1986 by Hitach Zosen built jack-up rig (ger .: jackup rig) of the company Maersk Drilling, a subsidiary of AP Moller-Maersk Group. The company owns 24 drilling rigs.

The Mærsk Giant serves as an offshore structure for drilling wells in order to search for oil or natural gas. The platform of the Mærsk Giant stands on scaffold legs with a length of 160 m, can be moved vertically and can therefore be used up to 107 m water depth. It has a load capacity of around 5,000 t and is pulled over short distances by tugs or transported over long distances on special cargo ships.

Five Caterpillar 3516 DITA diesel engines are available for power supply, each driving 1,200 kW generators. The National 1320-UE boring mill has a nominal output of around 1,000 kW.
