Mónica Clapp

Mónica Clapp de Prieto (* in Mexico City , Mexico ) is a Mexican mathematician and university professor. She teaches at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and does research on nonlinear partial differential equations and algebraic topology .

life and work

Clapp studied mathematics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at UNAM and in 1974 wrote her thesis in topology with Roberto Vázquez and Graciela Salicrup . In 1979 she did her doctorate at the University of Heidelberg on algebraic topology with Dieter Doll and Albrecht Dold . The title of her dissertation is: Duality in the category of the spectra of Ex spaces . She then became a researcher at the Instituto de Matemáticas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She was editor of the journals Boletín de la Sociedad Matemática Mexicana and Aportaciones Matemáticas and is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, the National System of Researchers and since 2012 a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society .
