Mönchshof (Barntrup)

The Mönchshof estate is a former manor west of the Lippe municipality of Barntrup in northeast North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

The estate is dated to the late Middle Ages and from 1471 was owned by the von Kerssenbrock family , who had their headquarters at Barntrup Castle from the 16th century . The estate remained in the family until the middle of the 20th century. The main house was built in 1764 under Friedrich August von Kerssenbrock, cathedral sexton in Minden.

The manor has been protected as a monument by the municipality of Barntrup since March 18, 1990 .

location

The Mönchshof is located on today's B66 between Dörentrup and Barntrup. The Bega flows over the courtyard . To the north-west of the Mönchshof is the Mönckeberg, in whose woods there is a mausoleum with a hereditary burial site.
