In the ski resort Mörlialp and the frozen Merlisee the recordings were made for Berezina battle for the film Fremds Land of Luke Gasser .

Mörlialp has acquired a special significance in British case law under the name Jarvis v Swans Tours Ltd. The English tourist James Walter John Jarvis was disappointed with his ski vacation in 1969 on the Mörlialp, as the information given by the tour operator Swans Tours Ltd was not met on site. He therefore sued, was awarded the right and compensation that went beyond the travel expenses. The judgment is considered to be a precedent in the British judiciary, as this was the first time that the plaintiff was awarded satisfaction through the pure compensation for damages .

The name Mörlialp probably goes back to Middle High German môr (for moor ). Field names and place names that begin with Möri- , Mor- and similar were originally a piece of boggy land gained through clear cutting.
