Mill in Porchères

The mill (known as Moulin du Barrage ) in Porchères , a French commune in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was built in 1850. The mill has been protected as a monument historique since 2007 .

The three-storey building, the top floor was renewed in 1937, was built over the river Isle to use hydropower. Five arched yokes form the foundation of the building, through which the water flows to drive the grinding machines. These are still preserved, the oldest dating from 1903.

The complete mill system with storage and the connecting passage to the weir are under monument protection.
