The Münchner Vorstadtbrettl is a Bavarian folk singer stage based on the old Munich folk singer tradition .

history

The Münchner Vorstadtbrettl was founded in 1971 by folk actor Karl Brenner . For years, the Brettl played in the hall of the Bayrischer Herold restaurant in Lindwurmstrasse and, alongside the Platzl, which was still in existence at the time, was the most successful stage in maintaining the old Munich comedian tradition. Over the years there have been several moves on the stage, and in some cases it has been decided to only give guest performances. Since April 1999 the Vorstadtbrettl has resumed its original domicile and plays several program seasons every year in the hall of the Bavarian Herald , a traditional restaurant where Hans Steyrer was already at the tavern.

Until 1999, Karl Brenner was at the helm of the Munich suburb board before handing over the artistic direction of the theater to his son Raimund.

In June 1973, Karl Brenner arranged the 60th birthday of his Royal Highness Prince Ludwig of Bavaria with the Munich suburb board in front of prominent guests, including four generations of Wittelsbachers , the then state president Rudolf Hanauer , the then district administrator Rudolf Widmann, the widow of Weiss Ferdl and the folk singer Schmid-Wildy .

Guest appearances abroad

Shortly after it was founded, the Münchner Vorstadtbrettl was hired to "beautify the 11th German Oktoberfest in Mount Clemens , Michigan " from September 7th to 24th, as the wording of the contract said. The then Bavarian Prime Minister Alfons Goppel sent a greeting to the organizers through her.

  • September 1975: Camp Shilo, Manitoba (Canada)

On behalf of the German Defense Ministry, the Münchner Vorstadtbrettl made a guest appearance in the Canadian Camp Shilo, a base of the Canadian armed forces, which also serves the Bundeswehr for tank training. In addition to the "musical troop support" for German and Canadian troops, there was also a special public performance in the theater in Brandon , Manitoba .
