M-Flo ( Japanese エ ム フ ロ ウ ; Emu Furō) (proper spelling: m-flo) is a Japanese hip hop group consisting of producer Taku Takahashi and rapper Verbal .

Originally the group consisted of three members. The singer Lisa left the group in 2002 for a solo career.

Career

Verbal and Taku first met at St. Mary's International School in Tokyo. Both found each other as a group in NMD , where Taku sat on the drums and verbally worked as a rapper. The focus of the group was on freestyle . After it was clear that they wanted to be a group, they invited Elizabeth Sakura Narita , who has Colombian roots. She was then known as Lisa . Before M-Flo she appeared under the pseudonym Unika , but was unsuccessful. In 1998 they sent a demo to the record company Avex Trax , where they later got a record deal with the sub-label Rhythm Zone .

After the debut with the record company Rhythm Zone , with the single The Tripod EP , which reached number 9 and sold more than 144,000 units, the debut album Planet Shining followed after a few singles , which was successful. It landed at number 6 on the Oricon charts and sold up to 333,000 times in total. It was also the 66th best-selling album in Japan for 2000 as a whole.

However, the singer Lisa left the band because she wanted to work on her solo career and so the M-Flo loves ... era came about .
