M. & H. Schaper is a publisher of specialist literature with a focus on veterinary medicine , agriculture and forestry . The traditional company , which was founded in Hanover in the 19th century , publishes magazines and standard works in the form of non-fiction books , with which the publisher is the market leader in various subject areas in German-speaking countries. The publishing program also includes specialist and non-fiction books for gardeners and florists. The company, which is organized as a GmbH and is based at Hans-Böckler-Allee 7 in Hanover, belongs to the Schlüterschen Verlagsgesellschaft group of companies .

history

On April 1, 1897, the brothers Max Schaper (1868–1936) and Heinrich Schaper (1869–1916) opened the M. & H. Schaper publishing house in Hanover . After the company began focusing on veterinary medicine in its publishing program as early as 1901, it sold part of the company on April 1, 1906, which was then renamed M. & H. Schaper Antiquariat (owner E. Geibel) at the beginning of 1907 .

Since 2006 the company has been part of the Schlütersche publishing company, which operates nationwide.
