MG Pandithan

MG Pandithan (born April 3, 1940 in Petaling Jaya , † April 30, 2008 in Kuala Lumpur ) was an Indian-Malaysian politician and president of the "Indian Progressive Front". He was a member of parliament and was elected for Tapah .

Career

Pandithan was born on April 3, 1940, the son of a worker in Petaling Jaya. He was initially a member of the Malaysian Indian Congress . There he was elected to the MIC Central Working Committee (CWC) in 1977. In 1981 he became vice president of the party. In 1986 he was elected to Parliament for Tapah. After being expelled from the MIC on June 16, 1988, he tried unsuccessfully to rejoin the party and in August 1988 founded the "Indian Progressive Front". His numerous attempts to bring his party into the Barisan Nasional coalition were always prevented by MIC President Samy Vellu .

In 2006 Pandithan fell ill with leukemia . He died on April 30, 2008 at the age of 68 in Kuala Lumpur General Hospital after a long illness. He leaves behind a wife and a son.
